SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks. Verifies materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations. Prepares items for shipment ensuring. Leads the work of shipping and receiving personnel performing related work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares pick lists and distributes to yard crew.
- Receives incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments into ERP system from customers.
- Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor, purchasing personnel.
- Maintains department database and file shipping/receiving records.
- May operate company vehicle to deliver shipments; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area; responsible for lock up of the warehouse and setting alarms.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental control standards.
- Leads, guides, and trains employees performing related work.
- Performs cycle counts of yard inventory and reconciles/explains variances.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Maintain accurate counts of customer material stored in the yard
- Interacts daily with customers with an excellent customer service attitude.
- Responsible for yearly inventory
- Responsible for organization and cleanliness of the yard.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience in inventory control and shipping and receiving.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and control standards.
- Ability to lead and train staff and/or temporary employees.
- Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
- Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
- Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Ability to read blue prints/drawings
- Demonstrate good computer skills
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
- Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license is a requirement for this job.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work involves moderate to heavy exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (6) hours per day.
- Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require strict understanding and adherence to safety precautions.
