Tool Room Attendant and Driver – 1st Shift – Full Time – Fort Worth, TX

JOB SUMMARY

This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for managing shop supplies and overseeing the tool room operations. The role ensures tools are properly stored, maintained through preventative maintenance programs, and issued to employees as needed. Additionally, this position tracks parts inventory to support efficient maintenance operations and performs driving duties operating company-owned vehicles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Create requisitions to replenish inventory.
  2. Organize and prioritize requisitions from maintenance and production departments.
  3. Submit requisitions to buyers.
  4. Receive parts shipments and log into system.
  5. Perform daily cycle counts of inventory, focusing on critical parts first.
  6. Ensure accuracy of inventory in databases with weld wire, gases & consumables, quantity, and location.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized parts room.
  8. Conduct daily scanning of inspection sheets, forklift, crane and work orders.
  9. Other duties as assigned by facilities supervisor.
  10. Maintain records of tools and equipment issued to production employees.
  11. Support the tool room counter to work with shop requesting tools and related consumables of equipment.
  12. Pick up and deliver components to various vendors.
  13. Conduct supply and small part runs between company facilities.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; six (6) months of related experience and/or training preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of personal or work driving experience required.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office software and familiarity with ERP software.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Attention to detail and organization skills are required.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and control standards.
  • Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Good sense of how tools operate & their functions.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check, and motor vehicle record check.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work involves moderate to heavy exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Moderate to heavy physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (6) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require strict understanding and adherence to safety precautions
