JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Accountant key responsibilities will include financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, AR functions, managing fixed assets, compilation and calculation of CAT Tax (Ohio), preparation of property tax declaration (CT) and working with external auditors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Helps in the preparation of consolidation of company financial statements.
- Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset ledger, depreciation calculations, capital expenditure requests. Create/Improve fixed asset and capitalizing processes.
- Prepare documents and analysis required for the completion of external audits.
- Process AR customer billing invoices for OH and CT locations for the manufacturing activities.
- Compile and calculate OHIO CAT tax reports and prepare property tax declaration in CT (yearly).
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions.
- Responsible for completing balance sheet reconciliations and researching variances.
- Additional projects and tasks as they arise.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise and support two Accounting Department employees, including assigning work, monitoring workload distribution, providing training and guidance, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of daily responsibilities.
- Assist with employee coaching, performance feedback, accountability, and development within the Accounting team.
- Help foster a collaborative, professional, and team-oriented work environment aligned with company values and expectations.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Education and Experience
- Education: 4 year degree in Accounting, or related discipline.
- Experience: or 4-6 years of similar job-related experience. Manufacturing Accounting experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities Required:
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and consolidation of financial statements.
- Knowledge of fixed assets, depreciation, capital expenditures, and tax compliance.
- Experience with financial audits, preparing documentation, and working with external auditors.
- Mastery of accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Sage 100 experience a plus.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills with the ability to coach, support, and hold team members accountable while promoting collaboration, professionalism, and strong communication within the Accounting Department.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying discrepancies and providing financial insights.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations and financial reports.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for explaining financial data to both finance and non-finance personnel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
