Safety Coordinator – Marion, OH

Job Summary:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing workplace safety programs and policies. This role ensures adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations, conducts regular inspections and audits, and leads efforts to prevent workplace injuries and incidents.

The Safety Coordinator works closely with management and employees to provide safety training, investigate accidents, identify hazards, and develop corrective actions. This position plays a key role in fostering a strong safety culture through continuous improvement, communication, and proactive risk management.

This is not a management-level position but carries significant responsibility for executing safety programs, conducting training, maintaining compliance, and supporting daily safety activities on the shop floor.

Flexibility in hours for training on off shifts as well as emergency calls/situations on off shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

Training & Development

• Conduct new hire safety orientation and onboarding training
• Deliver ongoing safety training for existing employees
• Assist in developing and updating training materials and programs
• Ensure employees understand safe work practices and PPE
  
  Safety Audits & Inspections
• Perform routine area audits and site safety inspections
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Track and follow up on corrective actions
  
  Incident & Near Miss Management
• Assist with reporting incidents, injuries, and near misses
• Participate in investigations and root cause analysis
• Help implement corrective actions
  
  

Recordkeeping & Compliance

• Maintain safety records and training logs
• Assist with OSHA logs (300/300A)
• Support audits and ensure documentation readiness
  
  First Aid & Emergency Response
• Provide basic first aid
• Maintain supplies and support emergency preparedness
  
  Employee Engagement & Culture
• Act as a visible safety resource
• Encourage employee participation in safety programs
  
  Additional Duties
• PPE management
• Support policies and safety meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

High school diploma or GED
Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations
Strong communication skills

Preferred:
                Experience in manufacturing or galvanizing
                First Aid/CPR certification
                Industrial hazard recognition

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, climb, and sit for extended periods of time.

Work Environment:

Industrial setting with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy equipment. Combination of office and production floor work.
