Job Summary
- Support all Rack Rock employees in safe work practices.
- The Safety Manager will implement and monitor the Company’s safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
- Develop relationships both inside and outside the Company that promote safety.
Duties and responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create a culture of Safety for our people by maintaining the company’s safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) rules and regulations.
- Plan and implement programs to train supervisors and employees in work site safety practices, injury prevention, fire prevention, and correct operation of equipment, and other safety related items.
- Conduct risk assessment for potential accidents and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Handle all OSHA related issues such as inspections, yearly reports, job site posters, citations, hearings, etc. Performs frequent safety audits to ensure compliance with all OSHA, State, Local and company safety rules and regulations.
- Compile the monthly safety tracking data report for management. Produce safety trend analysis reports as needed.
- Assist with all first aid/near miss/incident reporting and performs investigations to determine cause and possible preventive measures. Further investigates all injury claims to ensure the company is protected from fraudulent worker compensation claims.
- Makes corrective action recommendations to Senior Leadership concerning safety and health issues.
- Regularly review worker compensation claims data for possible employer modification rate adjustments.
- Manages the transitional return to work program for injured workers.
- Compile and review first aid, near misses and accidents monthly with the leadership team.
- Assist with creating and updating all OSHA required training programs.
- Maintain safety and accident records, files, trainings, and safety tracking reports
- Maintain employee training logs and coordinate training needs for all safety related issues.
- Maintain and administer safety related tracking and paperwork.
- Maintain and administer the Company SDS manuals.
- Assemble and manage site specific safety plans when required.
- Recommend and enforce disciplinary actions against safety policy violators.
- Attend safety-related seminars, meetings, forums, etc. as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, climb ladders, use hands, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Work is primarily in the shop which may require standing and walking for up to 80% of the time.

Minimum job requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or a related scientific field, such as biology, chemistry or engineering. Five to ten years of experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and abilities required:
- Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills and speak English and Spanish.
- Candidate needs to be an independent worker, self-motivated, require limited supervision and have excellent organizational skills.
- Candidate is a team player and able to build and maintain both internal and external relationships
- Working towards or has completed OSHA training courses #501, #503 and #511 for General Industry
