Quality Assurance Clerk – Full Time – Fort Worth, TX

JOB SUMMARY:

Quality Assurance Clerk may work independently in collaboration with others as directed on daily tasks and assigned projects including collecting, analyzing, arranging data, and creating reports. Maintain inspection reports in job folders and electronic files. Reviews and approves purchase orders for material testing. Creates and certifies certificates of compliance per customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

  1. Processing purchase orders (Raw Material, Miscellaneous, Outsourcing, Paint and Hardware) for prior receiving on inventory system.
  2. Review the fabrication schedule and identify Jobs Orders which inspection reports traceability are required, and coordinate with Quality Control department to gather necessary inspection documents.
  3. Collect, sort, file, and review accuracy of Inspection, NDT, and other reports by Job.
  4. Input data from documents on the appropriate Inspection Traceability Reports and distribute as required for internal and/or customer use.
  5. Maintain an orderly filing system the QA Office and electronic QA Job folders for Quality Records
  1. Review Mill Test Reports for accuracy and prepare certificate of compliance packages for jobs as required.
  2. Prepare Bolt Installation Verification test form and distribute to Production and Quality Control to perform testing and maintain the log.
  3. Creates PO request for special testing of material (Example CHARPY V Notch test).
  4. Provide support for internal and external quality audits.
  5. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, has the authority to act independently of manufacturing to ensure quality policy and procedures are followed.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • General knowledge of the requirements of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) for structural steel fabricators.
  • Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as copier, fax machine and scanner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to organize and schedule work assignments.
  • Ability to review, analyze and organize data.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

PREFERED:

  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes and inspection practices as applicable to the company’s products,
  • Knowledge of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Standards.
  • General knowledge of codes and specifications.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work involves an office environment with infrequent visits to fabrication shop that may include exposure to hot or cold temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noise.
  • Moderate physical activity. Could require handling of average-weight objects up to 35 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than two (2) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
