JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager manages in-house and third-party engineering resources, both domestically and offshore, to ensure engineering design quality standards, compliance with procedures, and accurate, on-time, and on-budget project delivery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage in-house and third-party engineering resources both domestically and offshore to ensure engineering-design quality standards, compliance with procedures, and accurate, on-time, and on-budget project delivery.
- Coordinate interpretation of customer specifications and structural design and components created with PLS-Pole, RISA-3D, and RISAConnection and provide technical information to cross-functional teams.
- Provide engineering input to manufacturing operations to ensure tapered tubular steel utility structures meet client specifications and resolve structure-related field issues, including recommending connection retrofits to customers.
- Review and approve calculations and drawings before submittals to customers.
- Stamp and seal final engineering calculations and drawings.
- Continuously improve engineering-design methodologies, standard drawings, and best practices to design primary steel components and welded and bolted connections for tapered tubular steel utility structures.
- Collaborate with sales and business-development teams to acquire and retain clients.
- Direct junior engineers, including hiring, delegating work assignments, evaluating performance, and recommending discipline, compensation, and discharge.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience with structural design and analysis of tapered tubular steel utility structures.
- Professional engineer license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Experience with PLS-Pole.
- Experience with RISA-3D and RISAConnection or similar structural design applications.
- Experience with detailing welded and bolted connections for tapered tubular steel utility structures.
- Experience with providing engineering input to manufacturing operations to ensure tapered tubular steel utility structures meet customer specifications.
- Experience with recommending connection retrofits to customers to resolve structure-related field issues.
- Experience training and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience with collaborating with sales and business-development teams for client acquisition and retention.
- Approximately 20% domestic and international travel.
