![]() Scott Parker When it comes to flat-track motorcycle racing, the record book shows one rider stands out from the rest. Scott Parker has won more races and more Grand National titles (six) than any other rider in the 41-year history of the American Motorcycle Association's Grand National series.
At age 33, the native of Flint, Michigan, boasts a long list of accomplishments. In 1976, Parker won the Amateur National Championship, and two years later, he won the Junior National Championship. Parker was bestowed with the honor of 1979 Rookie of the Year, becoming the youngest expert ever to win a national title. In 1988, Parker won the first of a record six American Motorcycle Association National Championships and was named the AMA Pro Athlete of the Year. Parker went on to receive the latter honor two more times over the next five years, in 1991 and 1994. He also secured AMA National Championship titles in 1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997 setting a record in the competitive sport. And at the start of a new season, Parker shows no signs of slowing down. "I still love what I am doing, and I'm a goal setter," he said. "I've still got some things I'd like to accomplish." He will power his Harley-Davidson toward a new goal: 100 career wins. As astronomical as that sounds, with a few more seasons like this past one, Parker could set that mark in the next three to four years. Parker has stated that he also would like to break the record number of wins in a season--12, set by Ricky Graham in 1993--and the record six consecutive wins set by Graham that same season. As the winningest rider in AMA dirt track history with 84 wins as of January 1998, Scott Parker is a motorcycle success story and a legend in his own rite.
